Strange Tales Of Tang Dynasty Season 3 Chinese Drama Review

Today's review is about Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty 3, starring Yang Xu Wen and Yang Zhi Gang. 

I have to say, I'm a bit disappointed by the third season, let me explain.

The drama picked up where they left off during their journey back to Changan. I had so much expectations for the drama since Season 1 and Season 2 were good. 

The first few episodes were amazing, I was having fun while watching them. I loved the suspense, the mystery, and the dark cases. Not to forget the friendship between our heroes. I was so happy to see Su Wuming and Chicken Fei, they're my favourite characters. 

The Story 

My issue lies in the story. The cases seemed to build up something in the palace. They seemed to be pointing at the Emperor and the Grand princess. They have been hinting the face off between those two since the first season. 

So on this third season, they made it look like one of them is the villain. I remember Lu LingFeng and Su Wuming even said something about a case pointing at "the one above". That's one of the hints I've been getting. Maybe it was just me overthinking it but the beef between the Emperor and Grand Princess was getting hotter.

Then they also start making the servants of the Emperor look like they're plotting something. The Enoch, had much control in the Emperor's decisions and he influenced a lot of people. His own relative was part of one case at some point and he knew it. He then had this maid who was serving the Emperor. He had her under his control too. They'd give each other suspicious eye contact as if they're plotting something. Even when the Emperor ate whatever the maid provided, she gave him a suspicious look. It was as if she put something in the food. 

Even in the Grand Princess' side, we had servants who seemed to be plotting something. Some even had private meetings with the Emperor's Enoch. They did expose some of the servants from the Grand Princess' side but some of the remaining ones where suspicious. 

Strange Tales Of Tang Dynasty 3 Ending 

I'm disappointed by the ending. The drama has a happy ending but it's not satisfying. Even the last episode didn't feel like it's the final episode. They rushed it. I can't forget that the Enoch and maid were acting suspicious the entire season. Even on the last episode, they still moved suspiciously. I don't know if that's how it is in the novel but that ruined the vibe for me. I was waiting for them to be involved in a plot and be investigated 

Conclusion 

I'm sorry but I'm going to rate Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty 6/10. I loved the cases but then the last few episodes were "meh". I wish they had a stronger case for the final episode not the one about games. Atleast it's much better than Cdramas we watch these days.
